A new Porch.com study revealed that central air conditioning and a private backyard are among the nonnegotiable features sought by today’s home shoppers.1 Meanwhile‚ most buyers are willing to overlook the absence of a swimming pool and stainless steel appliances.

The study also showed that desired amenities vary by age group:

  • Millennials would spend the most ($7‚009) on a private patio or backyard. This feature was only worth $4‚664 to Baby Boomers.
  • Central air conditioning and solar panels were also favored by Millennials.
  • Generation X would pay for a good view and a guest bedroom.
  • The only feature Boomers outbid other generations on was storm windows

While in this market, in most cases, it is cheaper to buy than to rent, ultimately it depends on your situation and objectives.I first suggest looking into buying and getting Pre-Approved for a mortgage. If you are not able to get pre-approved or you’re not ready to commit right now, there are 2 companies that offer something similar to a lease purchase, but the terms are better and new construction is an option!
Call or email me for information on them. Outside of these, I recommend a standard 12 month lease.
